School Improvement Consultant

Description:At Learning Sciences International, we are looking for experienced consultants who have a deep understanding of school reform initiatives, school turnaround models, and common models of instruction to support comprehensive school reform efforts. Additionally, knowledge of school systems, curriculum development, or instructional leadership skills is desired.

The successful candidate will provide high quality consultation to school leaders in area schools. Beginning in Fall 2013, priority schools identified in Michigan will be monitored at least once a month by a School Improvement Consultant to be certain that the school is progressing according to its plan. For schools that are making progress, visits may become less frequent at some point. Consultants must be skilled in the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation process to ensure the goals of the schools plan are implemented with fidelity and are making progress toward meeting the schools stated goals. Additionally, consultants will be required to use Michigan Department of Education's monitoring protocol, forms and metrics that have been developed to determine satisfactory progress including leading, lagging and implementation indicators.

Consultation services are grounded in current best practices and designed to improve student achievement through excellence in professional practice while expanding local capacity.
Duties:Consultant Responsibilities:
• Collaborates with school or district leaders to plan areas of consultation and facilitates decision-making
• Reviews School Improvement Plans in anticipation of onsite visitation to target focus area(s) of interest to the school
• Recommends and provides best practices to improve student learning and professional practice in local schools
• Documents onsite visitation and evaluations from consultation agreements and provides feedback to district administrator or leadership, as well as provides all report data for compilation to Learning Sciences International’s Enterprise team
• Maintains a positive and courteous attitude and image to customers
• Possesses and demonstrates strong interpersonal communication skills
• Transparently communicates both with effective verbal and written documentation to all identified stakeholders regarding consultation services
Qualifications:Education Requirements
• Master’s degree in education, educational or related field
• Prior administrator’s certificate or credential, desirable but not required

• 5+ years of successful classroom teaching experience
• 3-5 years of successful experience as a school or district Administrator, desirable but not required
• 3+ years of successful staff development or equivalent experiences, desirable but not required

• Outgoing personality and the ability to relate well with others
• Strong customer service orientation
• Outstanding communication skills
• Ability to work well independently as well as being an active participant in a team
• High professional and ethical standards
